Our Story
JG Farms beginnings go back to when Moat House Farm was purchased in the early nineteenth century by Wilfred Taylor. It was a typical mixed Farm which milked cows and kept sheep, pigs and chickens.
Milking was given up in the 1960s and replaced by beef production. Pig enterprise was established in the 1970s and ran successfully for over 30 years
Over the years blocks of land have been bought and rented in the area to grow a range of crops on the rich medium loam soils. In 1989 a parcel of land was bought in Meriden being only 3 miles from the main farm.
The rich soils were particularly suited to growing horticulture crops with poly tunnels also being erected to increase production under protected cover.
All this brings us to the exciting times of the present day, being 4th generation growers where we can offer our customers a range of quality crops which have been delicately cared for under close management. Planning permission has been granted for further poly tunnels to be erected. It’s just one of the ways we are investing in the future of sustainable farming.
“JG Farms has been supplying us with leeks and salad onions of an astonishing quality. We pride ourselves on selling vegetables that are fresh and bursting with vitamins and minerals. JG Farms deliver on this every time ”
